That is, every single item, being, material, type of material- every type of wood, metal, stone, bone, shell, plant, animal, bird, fish and other creature, has a certain amount and kind of magickal “charge” or potential.
Here and there through the descriptions and dimensions I’ve given in this booklet for some of the Tools you will see that I have given specific materials from which to make certain tools. Such as using Hazel or Ash from which to make Wands.
When you make any kind of magickal tool, Talisman or other item it can only increase the power and magickal potential of that item if you very carefully choose which materials and items it will be made from so as to draw in as many complementary potentials and magickal capacities as possible.
Ways to draw on this and weave it into your craft are to do some research into symbology and magickal potentials relative to any item you are going to make.
And also to draw for your inspiration and guidance from Inner plane sources, through such as meditations, dreams, intuition and psychic skills generally.
For example, if we draw together here what I’ve given concerning “The Wild Side” and “In tune with the land”, and use the power of those kinds of connections and inner guidance as well as our basic structure and correspondences, you will easily see that you can use all of this to guide you to or otherwise determine what materials and items to use in the construction of any magickal item or tool of any kind.
All of this balances out- between all the complementary principles and guidelines I’ve given in this booklet you should be able to clearly see how you can balance among all of this to draw from and use both intellectual-knowledge, and intuition and psychic skills.
For example there is an ancient and very powerful British Tree triplicity of Oak, Ash and Thorn. Compare that to the symbology of the Three Pillars and you will see a potential resonance. Consider the power-potentials of weaving that into the manufacture of your three Major Tools of Wand, Scourge and Sword by having those incorporate Oak, Ash or Thorn wood each into the manufacture of those tools. Such as using Oak wood for the Sword handle, Ash for the Wand and Thorn wood for the Scourge handle.
The possibilities are endless.
THE GODDESS
Who is she? What is she? Where is she? Where did she come from?
All questions to which we can posit some powerful and awe inspiring answers.
In the beginning was the void of potential from which through processes now being explored by science, planet Earth gradually accreted into being.
Through various stages this potential developed into a planet, and through processes that are still being explored, life emerged on Planet Earth.
All of this early life was asexual- it reproduced itself and gradually spread to colonise the entire planet wherever it could gain a foothold, by budding, cloning and simple cell division.
Through long aeons this life very, very slowly developed into new forms to enable itself to colonise the wide range of environments of Earth, and eventually it did so sufficiently well that out of the huge mass of its simplicity emerged a complexity- a collective intelligence.
Consider this: Individually every cell in your body is extremely simple. Put all those simple parts together and we have a complex human being. From out of that emerges mind.
Though a wide variety of forms of life developed in early times, individually they were all very simple. But from the complexity they collectively manifested, intelligence developed.
There is the Goddess- emergent from the complexity of life itself. Who and what is the Goddess- the collective intelligence of all that is. Where did she spring from- out of the very processes through which life itself arose.
Consider such a vast intelligence developing cognisance, self-awareness and growing intelligence through self-observation and experience through billions of years. She is old, she is wise beyond imagining, she has seen, been and experienced all that life has experienced, and she is the Mother of all.
From out of her being we emerge, and back into that vast being to be ‘recycled’ into new forms we go at the end of our lives.
Each of us ‘is’ the Goddess, each of us partakes of her totality, and each of us is a cell of her being.
“We all come from the Goddess, unto her we shall return,
like a drop of rain, flowing to the ocean”.
THE GOD
“And life in its complexity flourished and thrived for millennia”.
It changed, it grew it mutated into new forms…. But very slowly, as asexual reproduction generally relies on factors such as radiation to force changes and mutations within populations over vast ages of time, and relies on the sheer weight of numbers of any population, so that if that population is subject to anything which kills large numbers thereof, the rest of the population will simply produce very large numbers of replacements which are resistant to whatever killed their predecessors.
Which is fine for bacteria, microbes and other simple, unicellular forms of life, but for any form of life more complex this is a potentially disastrous evolutionary and survival strategy.
So out from her complexity and self awareness the Goddess produced the God-
“I am divided for loves sake” she said, and the Horned God was born. Her son, her lover and now the father of many of her offspring.
The forms of life multiplied and diversified with incredible speed and variety: For every disaster that could fall upon life, for every possible problem that could arise, new forms could emerge from the creative polarity of Goddess and God in union to meet every eventuality.
Novelty and variety arose in the world, and populations that had remained static and unchanged for millennia diverged and explored even more niches and possibilities.
Among human beings this creative urge borne of the union of the Goddess and God polarity drives us to explore new areas, to try new things, to endlessly develop and experiment in every way possible. Sometimes we get it right and life benefits, sometimes we get it very badly wrong and life suffers.
It always balances.
The God is the consort, the lover, the son and polarity of the Goddess. He too came into being from within her, and he too returns to her at the end of each cycle. Here is both a mystery and a great wisdom.
“Cernunnos, Horned one. Cernunnos, Goddesses son,
Herne the hunted and hunter, Stag Lord of the Earth”
